| Purpose/Aims
of Organisation: |
|
To teach the scriptures systematically
to young people, to help them understand and to grasp the meaning of
great spiritual truths in order to build up the faith of those who
believe already, to lead others to faith in Jesus Christ and to show
that the scriptures are relevant in today's modern society. |
|
| What
age range/who is the organisation for: |
|
For young people from the age of 12
years and upwards. |
| When
does the organisation meet and for how long: |
|
The Bible Class meets every Sunday
morning from 10.00am to 11.00am in the Church halls at 105 Hill
Street. |
| What
happens during a typical meeting: |
|
A typical meeting begins at 10.00am in
the coffee bar of 105 where we gather together to have a drink of
tea, coffee, hot chocolate, eat biscuits and to chat with each
other. Then when all the news
and chat is exhausted we move into the conference room where we pray
and have a time of praise.
This is followed by the scripture
reading and Bible study during which time young people are
encouraged to answer and ask questions. We finish at 11.00am. |
| Special
events/projects in the past: |
|
In the past we have studied books of the
Bible and more recently over the last few years we have looked at
the 'Life of Jesus Christ', studying His birth, His life, His death,
His resurrection and His ascension, things He said, claims He made
and miracles He performed. |
| Special
events/projects in the future: |
|
In September (2005) we will begin a
study of the first eleven chapters of Genesis. We will look at
the existence of God, the order of creation, the creation versus
evolution debate, the big bang theory, the origin of all things such
as languages, races, marriage.
We will seek to answer questions that arise from this study such as,
did dinosaurs exist? Where did Cain get his wife? How
did Noah get all the animals into the ark? Why are some people
black and some white? And much more ... |
