Connect : Mission
Our congregation is encouraged to get involved in outreach
and mission events of
various sorts both at home and abroad. A number of
our church members have been to places such as Kenya, Malawi,
Russia, America and South Africa and throughout the
UK and Ireland serving as missionaries.
Much of the work to
initiate missionary interest within our congregation
is undertaken by the Missionary Committee, which
understands that the responsibility of the Church is
to promote and support Christian mission, based on
what Jesus said to his disciples in the Bible:
- "Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee,
to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some
doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All
authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always,
to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)
As a church we
believe that every Christian is called to share the
gospel of Jesus Christ and so we are challenged and
encouraged during
Sunday services,
within Fellowships Groups, during times of prayer; to think about how each of
us can do this in practical, everyday sorts of ways
with friends, families and work colleagues.
The church also supports
the work of outside organisations and individuals
involved in missionary projects locally, nationally
and internationally.
