The Presbyterian Church is governed by the
eldership from which it actually derives its name (Presbuterion; being a
transliteration of the word which refers to a body of elders).
In Hill Street there are currently 25 ruling
elders and the minister who is the teaching elder. The finance and
the fabric of the congregation is dealt with by the church committee,
which is normally made up of a number equivalent to the number of
elders. |
