Hill Street
Presbyterian Church has traditionally been, and continues to be, a Bible
believing church. Hill Street Church believes that the Bible is
the divinely inspired word of God and for that reason the emphasis
within the ministry is overtly the systematic exposition of the Bible,
both at the Sunday services and at the Wednesday evening midweek
meetings.
Hill Street has a congregation of just over
300 families and historically it has been noted for its warmth of
fellowship. As a church it seeks to cater for all age groups,
involving its emerging youth in church services when appropriate.
In terms of worship there is a balance
sought between the past and the present, believing it important not to
lose our historic Presbyterian roots while at the same time striving to
utilize the best of the modern worship music available.
Young people during the summer holidays (and
those perhaps not so young!) are encouraged to get involved in outreach of various
sorts both at home and abroad. A number of our folks have been to
places such as Kenya, Malawi, Russia, America and South Africa.
The congregation has several men in the
ministry, including Harry Uprichard, Geoffrey Jones, John Hutchinson and
at present two others are currently training at Union Theological
College. |
