Edna McIlwaine

I used to be a teacher at Carrick Primary School
in Lurgan but I'm now very happily retired! Hill
Street has played such an important part in my life
over the years, both in terms of my spiritual
development and as a place full of friends and
fellowship. The support I have received, especially
during the tough times, has been a real blessing.
I always find it remarkable how God prepares and
uses us in His service - often in ways we never
thought possible. I have found that He always
provides me with the necessary strength, when I'm
prepared to trust in Him and step out in faith.
Back in 2003 I headed out to Malawi in Africa
with a group of ladies from PW. Since then
my interest in mission has continued to grow and
develop. As well as helping out with the missionary
activities within Hill Street, I am also involved
with the work of the Board of Mission Overseas. The
Presbyterian Church in Ireland regularly sends out
containers to Malawi full of supplies to equip the
hospitals and schools that they partner with.
My interest in mission is also reflected with my
involvement in Presbyterian Women. For the past two
years I have been the PW Overseas Vice President
within PCI. This role has provided me with the
opportunity of visiting different churches and PW's
to inform and encourage ladies to get involved with
global mission projects, supporting the work of our
missionaries in places such as Malawi, Kenya, Spain
and Portugal.
At home, I enjoy baking, cooking and walking, and I'm
currently working hard at developing my Sudoku
skills, trying hard to complete the daily puzzle in
my favourite newspaper! |
